Get to Know Me: Althea Vega

Hi there! I’m Althea Vega, a Filipina actress, fitness champion, and entrepreneur currently based in the vibrant heart of New York City. My journey has taken me from bit roles in Philippine soap operas to starring in films, winning fitness competitions, and now building a creative and entrepreneurial presence in the U.S.

Acting & Creative Career

With over a decade in the Philippine film industry, I’ve appeared in more than 30 films, TV shows, and radio programs, working alongside incredible talents and visionary directors. Some career highlights include starring in Metro Manila, which won the Audience Choice Award at the Sundance Film Festival under the World Dramatic category. and was nominated for Best Film (Not in the English Language) category at the 2014 BAFTA Awards. The 2013 film was also nominated and won for several other British Independent Film Awards. 

 “The Dark Military ROGUE,” where I played one of the lead roles, was my first short independent film in the United States and won 2024 Best Psychological Horror at the Screening International Bloody Mirror.

Acting has always been my passion, but I’ve also embraced opportunities to connect with the fashion world, judging beauty pageants and participating in fashion shows that celebrate creativity and confidence.

Fitness & Business Ventures

Fitness is a huge part of who I am. I’m proud to have won titles like Ms. Great Bodies and Ms. Gold’s Gym Staff Philippines. These accomplishments reflect my dedication to health, resilience, and pushing boundaries. I’ve even taken that passion to the next level by launching my own online store for gym apparel—check it out here—and running Vega Vibes Photo Booth, a business that brings fun and flair to events.

Things I Love

When I’m not on set or managing my businesses, you’ll find me exploring my interests. I’m passionate about boxing, MMA, flamenco dancing, hiking, cooking, reading, writing, bartending, and dog walking. I’m a nature enthusiast who loves the great outdoors and always strives to look fabulous while living life to the fullest.

Since moving to the U.S. in 2022, I’ve embraced new opportunities and challenges, starting from scratch in a city as dynamic as New York. I’m excited about what lies ahead, whether it’s creating more inspiring stories on screen, growing my businesses, or sharing my passions with the world.
